HB Lewis has worked on big blockbuster animated movies such as Lilo and Stitch, Madagascar, Robots, Ratatouille, Cars and Ice Age. He has also illustrated six published children's books.
I found it fascinating to look at his production sketches for these 3D animated films. They capture a richness and texture, as well as a color palatte, that seems to translate directly into the cleaner animation style of the finished movie. The designs themselves are very unique also. I especially like, in the robot and alien designs for their respective movies, how the characters seem to be very shape/silhouette inspired, conforming to strange/unique contours.
